186. $25
Chauncey Jerome 30-hr OG, ca. 1840. A
26-inch mahogany veneer case with some missing pieces and repairs. Note especially the bottom left side. The dial glass
is a replacement, the lower glass original and rebacked to preserve the excellent tablet, the strong point of this clock. The
contoured metal dial has been repainted, not quite professionally, the hands are period and appropriate. The 30-hour time-and-strike,
weight-driven movement is not signed but is clearly from the Jerome shop; it will not run and will need attention. It does strike
on the wire gong. There is a stained label inside noting that this clock was made in Bristol, before the move to New Haven. There are two old weights. $25–$100.
