184. $50
Chauncey Jerome 30-hr OG, ca. 1840. A 26-inch mahogany case with good mahogany veneer on the front. Both glasses appear to be original, with a well-preserved tablet. The wooden dial is faded and discolored in the corners; the hands are not original. The 30-hour brass, time-and-strike movement
is unsigned but is clearly Jerome. It is running and striking on a wire gong. There are remnants of a label, but the maker’s
name is not evident; however, the location is New Haven, making it likely that this is a Jerome or a New Haven clock. Two 30-hour
weights and a crank are included. $50–$100.
