181.              $50

Waterbury Clock Co. 30-hour OG, ca. 1870. The label indicates a sales outlet on Cortlandt St in New York City, which was active in the 1870’s.  The 26-inch case is veneered in rosewood in good condition with a clear finish.  Both glasses are period/original, with a very well-preserved tablet of a building with an owl in the belfry - I have no idea what that means.  The metal dial holds original paint with the Waterbury name and logo but is not original to this clock; the hands are modern replacements.  The 30-hour time-and-strike, weight-driven movement is signed and will run briefly but will not strike; it is dirty and in need of oil, at a minimum.  There is a good label inside and two period weights, along with a pendulum bob and Waterbury key.  $50–$150.
