173. $100
Seth Thomas Clock Co. “Column”, ca. 1860. A
25-inch case with mahogany veneer and a glossy finish; the half-columns have not been painted but are likely solid mahogany. The dial glass is period but not original, the lower glass original with acceptable retention of the Fenn(?) tablet. The contoured
metal dial has considerable losses, the hands are period and correct. The 30-hour weight-driven, time-and-strike movement is
signed Seth Thomas Plymouth Hollow, matching the label. It is running and striking on the wire gong, driven by two period weights. $100–$200.
