159.              $50

New Haven Clock Co. banjo, ca. 1920.  I cannot find this model in Ly’s book on New Haven clocks, and, although there is a label on the back, it does not state the model. The clock is 35 inches long with the gilt eagle finial and is painted green.  I can’t determine if it came that way or was painted by an owner.  There are spots of wear and loss, and soiling.  The throat glass is a reverse painting, the box tablet is a print.  The dial glass is convex, the dial is silver grey and has probably been repainted.  The hands are a New Haven style.  The 8-day, time and half-hour strike, spring-driven movement is signed and running, striking a nice tone on a single rod chime.  There is a proper pendulum and, as noted, a label on the back.  $50–$150.
