142.             $250

New Haven Clock Co. “Regulator, C.C.”, ca. 1886. This is a hard model to find; there are no listings on LiveAuctioneers and only three on the Antique Clocks Identification and Price Guide, going back to 1999.  No sales since 2009 that I can find.  The 40-inch walnut case has an old finish with good patina; I think the top and bottom finials may be replacements, but they accurately match the finials shown in the catalog illustration (Ly,New Haven Clocks & Watches, page 153).  The door glass is period and clearly a New Haven glass, although it is not the one shown in the catalog illustration.  There is some lifting and minor losses to the colored tablet.  The dial holds old/original paint in good condition, with proper hands.  The 8-day, time-only movement is stamped with the New Haven logo; it is running nicely.  No maker’s label, but a jeweler’s label inside.  This is a rare and attractive clock.  $250–$500.
