128.             $50

David Dutton bevel-front shelf clock, 1830-1840. Mr. Dutton worked out of Mont Vernon, NH making wooden works shelf clocks in a simple style, often with a lower glass mirror and beveled fronts.  There are about a dozen sales on LiveAuctioneers.  This mahogany case is just over 26 inches tall in a very old and crusty finish.  There is probably the original finish underneath.  The dial glass is old, possibly original, while the mirror is a twentieth century replacement.  The small wooden dial is simple and clean with period hands that are a bit too long. The 30-hour, time-and-strike wooden movement runs briefly and will strike on the wire gong.  There are two 30-hour weights, an old pendulum bob and a good label.  $50–$100.
