120.            $100

Pratt & Frost bronzed looking glass shelf clock, 1832-1835. A 34.5-inch case with good mahogany veneer, an old finish, and bronzed half-columns and splat.  The bronzing is very strong and looks original; both the dial glass and the mercury mirror are original.  The full-length door hinges on the left.  The large, heavy wooden dial shows some paint loss in streaks (stretch marks) across the middle and is moderately soiled; the numbering and gilding is bright and the hands are period/original.  The large 30-hour wooden movement is of the “groaner” type, with proper square weights and an old pendulum bob; it is running strongly and striking on the overhead bell behind the splat.  There is a good label inside.  Pratt & Frost worked out of Reading, MA.  These aren’t beautiful clocks but they are historic. $100–$200.
