105.              $250

Olcott Cheney pillar & scroll, 1831-1835. A restored clock with a lot to like, but not all original.  The backboard has an old label for this third-generation clockmaker from a most famous clockmaking family.  The case has been restored and I think the scroll top, feet, and skirt are replacements, as well as the pulleys up top.  Possibly the slender columns on each side.  The door looks original, with all the putty removed and two new glasses held in place with wooden strips, but the veneer may be a replacement.  A nicely painted tablet, but unsigned.  The brass urns are on screw mounts.  The wooden dial has been professionally cleaned and touched up, and has a floral decoration below the mainstem; it may not be original to this clock, as other Cheney examples do not have this style of decoration.  The hands are modern but appropriate.  The 30-hour wooden movement looks new; it has plastic bushings. It is running and striking on the iron bell.  A good-looking decorator clock.  $250–$350.
