71.                       $100

Waterbury Clock Co. “Oxford”, ca. 1881.  A 32.5-inch walnut case with an old finish and some grittiness in the corners and edges; the four finials are correct.  The side mirrors are likely original, the door glass is modern with an applied decal. The putti’s are likely original and have lost their gilding but could be repainted.  The dial is a paper replacement with some discoloring, the hands are period and appropriate.  The 8-day, time-and-strike movement is signed Waterbury and is running, but not strongly and will need cleaning.  It strikes on a wire gong with a tinny sound.  There is an alarm hooked up but not tested.  The pendulum is Waterbury issue.  No label.  Note the figurehead at the top and the metal emblem at the bottom. $100–$200.
