69. $150
E. Ingraham Co. “Dewey”, ca. 1899. One of
several clocks commemorating the Spanish-American War; Commodore George Dewey was a hero for destroying the Spanish fleet in Manila
Bay, Philippines. The pressed oak case is 23 inches tall and has been refinished. The glass is original with good
retention of the stencil of his ship, the Olympia. The signed paper dial is darkened and lifting, and about due for replacement;
the hands correct, and the signed 8-day, time-and-strike movement is running and striking, although the strike is sluggish. A
proper Ingraham patriotic pendulum but no label. AAC sold a Dewey in 2023 for $337. $150–$300.
