44.             $300

Russell & Jones Clock Co. “Mayflower” calendar wall clock, ca. 1890.  The label on the back says that this is the Mayflower, but the case is the same as the Garland; apparently, they changed the name when they used a calendar movement.  The calendar model is not shown in Ly’s American Clocks, Vol. 1, and only one sale can be found on LiveAuctioneers back in 2010 (the model name was not identified), with no sales on the Antique Clocks Identification and Price Guide.  With the finials, the walnut case is 38 inches long with an old finish and great patina; note the four side lights with original glass, I believe.  There are two rounded corner pieces on the crest that are commonly missing from other examples of this case.  The door glass is old and possibly original; the dial is unsigned paper, and yellowed. The hands do not match the catalog illustration and are not old.  The 8-day, time, strike, and calendar movement is signed and running, and the calendar hand advances.  The pendulum stick and bob are period/original.  It is running and striking without issue.  Label on the back; a rare model.  Russell & Jones took over the bankrupt Terry Clock Co. in 1888 and stayed in business for just four years.  No recent sales examples.  $300–$600.
