Ansonia Brass & Copper Co. “Drop Extra Calendar”, 1869-1877.  AB&CC sold the clockmaking business to the reformed Ansonia Clock Co. in 1877, which continued to market their clocks as late as 1883.  The case is veneered in rosewood, 25 inches long with two replaced glasses and a repainted tablet on the pendulum door.  The drop finials, so often lost, are correct and look old.  The 12-inch dial holds the original paint and numbering, with slight chipping and fading; the three hands are correct and likely original.  Note the brass calendar hand. The 8-day, time-and-strike movement is unsigned.  It is running and striking on a wire gong, rather rapidly, and the calendar hand is advancing.  There is a good label inside on the backwall.  Schmitt Horan sold one in 2023 for $475, and Fontaine’ssold one that same year for $850.  $325–$500.
