Waterbury Clock Co. “Willard No. 1” banjo, ca. 1906.  A 41-inch case with a Flemish Oak finish and a weight-driven 8-day, time-only movement.  The dial glass is convex, the bezel does not close tightly.  The throat and box glasses are likely original.  An acorn finial is missing from the bottom, the top finial is correct.  The glasses shown in the catalog illustration (page 70 of Ly, Waterbury Clocks & Watches, Vol. 1) differ slightly.  The cast gold trimmings around each glass are present.  The dial is heavy porcelain, the hands appear to be replacements.  The 8-day, time-only movement is signed and running without issue, driven by a 7 lb lead weight. There is a weight shield and a Waterbury pendulum stick and bob, with a Waterbury beat scale at the bottom.  There is a label on the back.  No recent sales of this uncommon model.  $200–$400.
