E. Howard & Co. “No. 5 Regulator” banjo REISSUE,
1977. Well, there’s no documentation and no label, but this clock is too new and too perfect to be anything but a reissue. Howard
reissued this model in 1977. The 29-inch mahogany case has a polished finish with three perfect glasses; the dial is signed,
the hands correct, the 8-day, time-only movement is signed and running, driven by a No. 5 iron weight. There is a weight shield,
pendulum tie-down, polished bob, and a No. 5 winder. Perfect. I can’t find a sale of No. 5 reissue, but originals sell
for over $600. $400–$600.
