249. $400
English tavern clock, ca. 1890. A 58-inch oak case with
an old/original finish. There are reeded quarter columns with brass caps and plinths in the mid-section; the contoured base
has a crack that is stable. The dial glass is old but likely not original, as the bezel holding it in place is a replacement. The dial is a painted replacement on Masonite; the hands are elaborate with a second hand, which is not well secured. The 8-day,
time-only movement is driven by a 10-lb cast iron weight, with a steel rod pendulum. It is running. The waist door lock
is rusted and the door is held shut with a Velcro closure. $400–$600.
