248. $1200
English eight bell/five gong bracket clock with
bracket, ca. 1900. This clock does everything but carry in tea on a tray. The oak case is 23 inches tall, 16 inches wide
and 12 inches deep. The matching wall bracket is 14 inches tall, 18 inches wide and 13.5 inches deep. The finish on both
is clean. The door glass is beveled, the silver dial is tarnished with some wear; the hands are proper. The 8-day time,
strike, and chime triple-fusee movement plays Whittington chimes on 8 nested nickel bells and Westminster chimes on four cathedral
gongs, take you pick with the dial on the upper right of the clock face. It strikes the hour on a large cathedral gong. You can silence the chimes and hour strike. It is running, chiming, and striking as expected without problem, and sounds great
both on bells and gongs. AAC sold a similar example that did not run and lacked the matching bracket in 2022 for $1200. $1200–$1600.
