197.               $250

J. V. Mooney barometer and timepiece,ca. 1865.  A 48-inch walnut base with and old finish and patina.  The one-day lever-movement timepiece was made by L Hubbell and is dated 1865; it will run briefly and is oily.  The dial is paper, the hands period, and the modern dial glass is cracked. The paper scale for the mercury barometer is likely original and indicates that the apparatus was retailed by Arnaboldi & Co in New York City; it is also dated 1865.  My consignor states that the thermometer tube (upper left) has been replaced.  I can find only one other sale of this model, in 2014 at Fontaine’s for $325.  $250–$400.
