188. $500
E. Howard & Co. “No. 5 Regulator” (banjo),ca. 1874. A second example of this iconic wall clock. The finish is clear and the rosewood graining is evident on all
surfaces. The three glasses are period/original, with the original putty holding the dial glass in place. As with #187,
the dial is the weakest point, with spotting, discolored touch-ups, and soiling. The hands are proper and period. The
8-day,time-only movement is signed and running without issue; there is a proper No. 5 cast iron weight, wooden weight shields painted
red a long time ago, and a damascened pendulum bob with a working tie-down. Practically perfect except for the worn dial. $500–$700.
