Antique American Clocks JULY 2024
140. $600
Southern Calendar Clock Co. “Fashion
No. 3”, ca. 1878. The first Fashion with a full glass door and Fashion lettering. A 32-inch walnut case with a clean,
dark, old finish; the three finials are period/original. The door glass looks like a modern replacement with good Fashion lettering;
the dials have been repainted, the hands are correct. The 8-day, time-and-strike movement was made by Seth Thomas “solely for
the Southern Calendar Clock Co.” and is running and striking on the brass bell, and the calendar is advancing. The “star” pendulum
bob is missing the leaf embellishment normally on top of the bob. Good labels inside. AAC sold a Fashion No. 3 last winter
for $805. $600–$900.
