Antique American Clocks JULY 2024
125. $100
Terhune & Edwards “Grisi” iron-front, ca. 1867. A 16-inch
iron-front with bright flowers below the dial and grain-painting around the dial and center section, and gilding across the bottom. An interesting design not often seen. There is a foundry stamp on the back but I cannot read it. The dial glass is old
with newer putty, the lower glass a modern replacement. The dial is paper, possibly original, with the numbering strengthened. Hands are old replacements, the minute hand modified to fit. The 30-hour time-and-strike movement is unsigned; it is clean and
running, striking on a wire gong. There is a dark label inside. $100–$200.
