Unknown maker, iron case with MOP, ca. 1870.  A 17-inch case with gilding and mother of pearl (MOP) on the front in the form of flowers.  The gilding and painted flowers are bright; note the small MOP pieces all along the borders.  Both glasses are replacements; the dial is paper with yellowing and unsigned. The hands are period and appropriate.  The 8-day, time-and-strike movement is unsigned; it is running and striking on the wire gong.  No label.  An attractive clock.  $100–$250.
