New Haven Clock Co. “Gothic Gem”, ca. 1880.  A 17-inch refinished mahogany case with some repairs to the veneer on the curved front, lower left and right.  Both glasses are old, likely original, but with replaced putty on the dial glass.  The tablet has lost most of its backing.  The round painted metal dial has faded and has some chips; the hands are appropriate.  The 8-day, time-and-strike movement is not signed but is a Jerome style movement; it is running and striking on a wire gong, with a New Haven pendulum bob.  There is a good label inside and a handwritten note of provenance on the back.  $50–$150.
