Wm L Gilbert Clock Co. “Stella”, ca. 1879.  A rare clock; 16 inches tall in black lacquer with embossed metal trim around the door and base.  Note the additional leaves at each corner and the corner protectors on the base.  The glass is original, in good condition, the signed paper dial is a replacement, and there are two proper brass hands.  The 30-hour time-and-strike movement is not signed; it is running and striking on a wire gong on a copper mount.  There is a brass and silvered pendulum with leaves at the top; this is a high-end model from Gilbert. There is a good label on the back.  Only one other sale that I can find, by AAC in 2020 for $305; that example differed slightly from this one.  You can find this model on page 307 of Ly’s book Gilbert Clocks.  $250–$400.
