82. $750
Seth Thomas Clock Co. “Garfield”, ca. 1883. A large (29.5 inches tall) and impressive weight-driven shelf clock best paired with the Lincoln. The walnut case has an old and possibly original finish with some flaking of the varnish, especially on the sides. The door glass is original, the dial has been repainted, the hands are correct. The signed 8-day, time-and-strike movement is running and striking appropriately with a damascened nickel pendulum bob and proper brass weights – the strike weight is 5 lb 4 oz, 4.5 inches tall and 2 inches wide, while the time weight is 4 lb 1 oz, 4.5 inches tall and 1.75 inches wide. There is no label and no date stamp on the back. This clock has no issues that I can find. AAC has sold three Garfields in the last four years for an average of $833.
When I posted this clock on Facebook JC Hoffman (and many others) noted that the feet are on upside-down. Upon inspection I
note that they have been that way for a long time! Who knew?!?
