Chauncey Jerome 8-day steeple with alarm, 1845-1850. A 20-inch steeple in walnut veneer with two period/original glasses, the mirror original. This steeple is unusual for being
an 8-day and for having a separate alarm mechanism. Note the springs mounted in front of the great wheels. The flat, painted
metal dial looks original with little wear or flaking, and the hands are also period/original. The 8-day, time-and-strike movement
is unsigned and is running and striking on a wire gong; the alarm strikes on a small iron bell. It was not tested. There
is a dark and stained label, difficult to read, behind the gong base and alarm. $100–$200.
