54. $400
Brewster & Ingrahams four-post sharp gothic
(onion top), 1843-1852. A 20-inch 4-post steeple with a clean finish, an original dial glass with the original putty, and a
period cut and frosted-glass tablet. The four ringed finials are perfect and perhaps not original, the dial was repainted and
bears the makers’ signature; the hands are correct and likely original. The ribbed, signed movement has two brass springs and
is running, with some coaxing, and striking on a wire gong. A good label inside behind the B&I gong and a plastic sheet. Cottone’s sold one last spring for $550, a typical price. $400–$600.
