Chauncey Jerome
cottage, 1845-1850. A 12-inch box case in walnut and walnut veneer with a full door glass and an overhead suspension pendulum. The reverse-painted glass is in good condition – note the red berries on the floral strands. The dial pan is a modern brass
sheet with a glossy paper dial and replaced hands. The presumably 30-hour, time-only, brass movement has a brass spring that
is wound tight and needs to be relaxed to run; note the overhead suspension spring and early pendulum bob (probably a replacement). The movement is signed “Chauncey Jerome New Have Conn USA.” There is no label. Not a bad looking example, despite the
replaced dial. AAC sold one in 2022 for $150. $50–$250.
