Eli Terry &
Son column & splat shelf clock, 1831-1833. This was a partnership between Eli and his second son Henry, and succeeded Eli
Terry & Sons (with Eli Jr). Eli then retired in 1833 and Henry took over under his own name. Clocks by this firm are
not common. The case is 33 inches tall with good mahogany veneer and good bronze stenciling on the columns and splat. The dial glass is original, the mirror old/original, but the backing has been replaced. The dial is a bit soiled, the hands
likely original. The 30-hour time-and-strike wooden movement looks good but could not be tested, as there is no pendulum rod
or bob. There are two appropriate weights. $50–$150.
