270.          $25

FHS (Hermle) standing chime clock, 1928.  The Franz Hermle Clock Co. was started in 1922 and soon incorporated his sons into the business (Franz Hermle & Sohns).  The back of the movement is marked FHS and includes the manufacture date and model number, I believe (178; 1928).  The walnut-veneered case stands 52.5-inches tall in an art deco style with vertical bars on the front of the case and a slightly worn art deco-style dial – note the hands. The glass is old and the bezel does not stay shut.  The spring-driven 8-day, time, strike, and chime movement is untested as the pendulum is missing; it needs about an 18-inch rod and bob, judging from the wear inside the case.  That will be your assignment if you are the lucky winning bidder.  The movement may need oil, or other attention.  I cannot find a sales record, but this is not an uncommon clock.  $25–$100.
