263.          $200

Biedermeier period one-weight Vienna, ca. 1840.  A simple 34-inch polished mahogany case with ebonized trim.  Both glasses are period and look original; the two-part porcelain dial has a pie-crust bezel and faint hairlines, with Vienna-style hands.  The movement is unsigned and unmarked; it mounts on a wooden seat board that slides into place.  It strikes the quarter hours on one rod and the hours on a second rod; both strikes are spring-driven, while the time is weight-driven.  The weight is period and beat up.  The pendulum crutch is broken and will need professional repair, so I could not test it, although it does strike.  The pendulum stick is wood, the back of the bob zinc.  A nice look.  $200–$400.
