258. $150
French baker’s clock ca. 1890. A 24-inch tall by 20-inch-wide
case in walnut with ebony trim, in the traditional French wall clock style. The glass in the door is modern. Note the
uncommon metal trim pieces on the dial surround; I have not seen that before. The 9-inch dial is marble with attached numbers,
fancy hands, and painted ornamentation; the name is ‘Bazar Sevillano’ which I believe refers to a business in Seville, Spain. The 8-day, time-and-strike movement is unsigned but does bear a serial number. It is oily and the time spring is either broken
or disconnected, and the movement will need an overhaul. Right now, this is just a looker. These clocks typically sell
for $150–$300.
