E. Howard & Co. “No. 69 Eight Day Marine & Locomotive Clock”,ca. 1889. This model came in five sizes, from a 4.5-inch dial to a 12-inch dial; this is the second largest, with a 10-inch
dial and an overall diameter of 12.5 inches. The case is nickel-plated, the silvered dial appears to be aluminum; it is not
ferric. The glass is likely original, as are the hands; it is signed “American Steam Gauge & Valve Manufg. Company. Boston,
Mass. U.S.A.” The 8-day, lever-spring movement is signed and running. AAC sold an 8-inch dial version last summer for
$1800. $1500–$2500.
