Waltham Watch Co. “No. 1500” banjo, ca. 1930. The dark mahogany case
is 42 inches long with the base and brass eagle finial. The case has brass twisted rope links around the throat and box, and
decorative brass balls around the bottom. And of course, brass side-arms. The glasses are flaking badly on the cream-colored
surround and in the throat; the tablet depicts Independence Hall and the image itself is not flaking. The dial glass is domed,
the painted dial lightly soiled but no losses or significant wear, with correct hands. There is a proper brass eagle finial
on top. The 8-day, time-only movement is signed, serial number 9006, and is running fine; the pendulum tie-down is missing. AAC has been selling this model between $750 and $950 over the last several years; the flaking paint here lowers the estimate. $400–$600.
