E. Howard & Co. “No. 95 banjo”, ca. 1923-1934. A 40-inch mahogany
case with sandalwood cross-banding on the front. The glasses are original and in good shape, faithfully replicating the geometric
pattern used by Simon Willard. The dial glass is convex, the signed dial holds the original paint and hands. The 8-day,
time-only movement is signed and running, driven by a lead weight that is original, and regulated by a damascened pendulum bob. There is a complete tie down, tin weight shields, but no label. The lower door and case are stamped ‘4’. The only complaint
I can find is that the brass bezel and side-arms are tarnished. AAC sold this model in 2020 for $1000. $600–$1000.
