225. $2000
Elmer Stennes girandole, 1973. A 44-inch mahogany case with gilded
carvings at the bottom and a gilded brass eagle at the top. The gilding has some roughness throughout. The glasses are
typical and depict Aurora (note the misspelling) at the bottom. The dial glass is domed, the painted dial clean, the hands correct. The 8-day, time-only movement is unsigned but marked ‘4’; it is running, driven by a signed lead banjo weight. The case is numbered
‘12’ including on the lower door and throat; the date ‘73’ is stamped into the case at the lower right. Stennes girandoles have
come down in price of late, selling for around $2600 or so. $2000–$3000.
