220. $150
George Hills mirror clock, ca. 1850. A 25.5-inch case in rosewood veneer
with a clean finish, an old mirror, and a repainted dial surround. Hills took movements from other makers, usually Chauncey
Jerome as found here, and built them into mirror wall clocks. The upper glass is old, the mirror probably not original. The painted metal dial is original with ‘George Hills Plainville Ct’ across the bottom. The hands are slight mismatches. The Jerome 8-day time-only, lever-spring movement is signed and will run when lying down but not when standing up; I often feel the
same way. There is a dark label on the back. AAC sold a similar example a year ago for $200. $150–$250.
