213.         $100

Welch, Spring & Co. “Dolaro” wall clock, ca. 1886.  This is a wall version of a higher-end shelf clock by Welch, Spring & Co.  It is not shown in Ly’s book on Welch clocks (although the shelf model is – see #112).  It is 23 inches long in refinished black walnut; the door glass is original, with good retention of the stencil.  The painted dial is likely original, with some fading and a later-added signature above the hands arbor.  The hands are period/original.  The signed 8-day time and half-hour strike movement is running but the strike is hung up.  There is an untested alarm that strikes on a nickel bell, while the clock strikes on a wire gong.  A nice sandwich glass pendulum with a copper finish and a label on the back.  No sales records for the wall model, one shelf clock sale on LiveAuctioneers long ago when we were kids.  $100–$200.
