210.         $150

E.N. Welch Mfg. Co. “Alexis No. 2”, ca. 1872.  The smaller of the two Alexis models at 22 inches long with a 10-inch dial.  The grain painting is outstanding on this example; both glasses appear to be modern replacements.  The original painted dial shows light soiling and just a few chips; the hands are proper Welch hands. The 8-day, time-only movement is signed and will run for a minute or two with coaxing.  It will do better with a bit of attention and patience.  There is a good label behind plastic inside the bottom.  Note the carvings between the two rounds. AAC sold a similar example last winter for $200.  $150–$250.
