207.         $450

Seth Thomas Clock Co. “Panama”, 1889.  A 31-inch cherry case with a dark finish and plenty of patina.  There is a smidgen of damage to the top central rosette and a spot or two of damage to the case.  The glass is modern, the dial old, the paint possibly original, with considerable chipping and some discoloration. The hands are correct.  The 8-day, time-and-strike movement was made by ST but is very dirty and will not run more than a few strokes; cleaning is in order.  A good ST pendulum with a damascened nickel bob, and a very dark label on the interior bottom. Date on the back.  This cherry is so dark it looks like mahogany, but ST did not offer it in mahogany, so we’re sticking with cherry.  If you like ‘em clean you’ll want to clean this one up.  AAC sold a Panama in cherry a year ago for $650. $450–$600.
