192.           $600

Wm. Gilbert Clock Co. “Regulator No. 3”, ca. 1875.  One of Gilbert’s finer clocks, the rosewood case is 49.5 inches long with an old, clean finish and old glass in the door.  There are pressed wood ornaments on the front edges, crest, and base; the five finials are well made but are not perfect matches to the finials shown in the catalog drawing; they do match finials found on other examples.  The dial is repainted, the hands are correct and period.  The 8-day, time-only movement is unsigned but as found in other examples; it is running, driven by a large iron weight.  The pendulum bob has been polished one time too many.  A worn label on the back.  AAC sold a similar example in January of 2022 for $750.  $600–$800.
