191. $500
Wm L Gilbert Clock Co. “Regulator No. 11”, ca. 1891. A
second example of this model, this one in oak with a very old and neglected finish. The 50-inch case has a slightly different
top piece, but I can’t imagine that it isn’t original. The door glass is original, as are the two side glasses. The paper
dial appears to have been professionally repainted, with some crinkling and touch-up to the numbering. The hands are proper. The 8-day, double-weight movement winds from a single arbor and is unsigned; it runs briefly and will need service. It is driven
by two brass weights on each side that I don’t believe are original. The pendulum stick and bob are likely original; there is
no label. A very original example in need of rejuvenation. $500–$700.
