184.           $1200

Seth Thomas Clock Co. “Regulator No. 3”, ca. 1900.  A 42-inch case with burled walnut veneer on the front and regular walnut on the sides.  The veneer is nearly perfect, not new, but probably not original either.  Both glasses are old and could be original.  Note the gold border around the lower glass.  The dial was repainted in 2005, the hands are original.  The 8-day, time-only trapezoidal movement is signed and running, driven by a ST brass weight with knurled end-caps, and a ST pendulum and brass bob.  There is a black label inside on the bottom. I can’t really find fault with this stellar example.  The average sale price of No. 3’s on AAC over the last three years is $1300 (four sales).  This is as nice as any of them.   $1200–$1600.
