99.              $2500

Timby’s Solar Time Piece, 1863-1865.  The 28-inch case is walnut with an old glossy finish.  The top finial and acorn drop finials look original; there is a vertical crack in the middle that has been poorly repaired.  The vertical time indicator arrow has been lost and replaced with a star above the window with the paper time strip; the strip rotates with the globe.  The globe is sun-faded and has some spotty losses; it has been lacquered to prevent further wear.  It is labeled “Joslin’s Terrestrial Globe” and dated 1860.  There is a frosted glass in the lower door over the hand-numbered minute dial (a replacement).  The 8-day lever-spring movement is not running and I did not attempt to oil the pivots, as you need to remove the movement to do so.  AAC has sold four of these clocks in the past few years for an average of $4,200.  $2500–$4000.
