90. $100
Chauncey Jerome 30-hour steeple with false fusees,
1844-1850. A 23-inch mahogany case with an old, dark finish. Both glasses are likely original, with considerable losses
to the tablet of St. Paul’s Cathedral. The dial is likely original as well, with minor chipping and some yellowing. The
hands are period and proper. The 30-hour time-and-strike brass movement has the springs mounted below the movement, with the
cords winding on wooden spools that look like fusees but are not. It runs briefly and does not strike. There is a good
label behind plastic. $100–$150.
