Smith & Goodrich 30-hour steeple fusee with
overhead pulleys, 1847-1852. This is another unusual steeple fusee from these guys, here with a wooden fusee mount and wooden
fusees with the cords running through overhead wooden pulleys. I am not sure why this is done this way, do you know? It
would appear to be a precursor to the movements where the fusees are in a cast iron frame directly below the movement in a simpler
arrangement. The 20-inch case is very dark with a thick patina and two likely original glasses; the tablet has lost any backing
it might have had. The dial is an aluminum replacement, the hands are proper but also modern replacements. The 30-hour
time-and-strike fusee movement is running and striking as expected. There is a good label inside. $150–$250.
