Smith & Goodrich 30-hour fusee steeple,
1847-1852. A 20-inch sharp gothic in a beautiful rosewood and mahogany case with two likely original glasses and a very well-preserved
Fenn tablet. The contoured metal dial holds the original paint, touched up professionally at the winding ports and screw holes,
and bears the original signature of Smith & Goodrich, Bristol CT. The hands are period. The 30-hour brass time-and-strike
fusee movement is unsigned, with the fusees mounted on a cast iron bracket immediately below the movement. The fusees are wood,
with steel springs. It is running and striking, the strike being a bit noisy. There is a good label behind plastic. This is a nice example. $150–$300.
