81. $500
Forestville Manufacturing Co. ripple-front steeple,
1842-1849. A 20-inch case with beautiful rosewood veneer all around and two old/original glasses, including a wonderful original
Fenn tablet. Note that the left finial tip is missing; also note the ivory door handle. The dial is original and holds
the original paint as well as J.C. Brown’s signature at the top. The hands are slight mismatches. The 8-day time-and-strike
brass movement is signed Forestville MFG Co.; there is an alarm ring but no evidence of an alarm mechanism on the movement or case. It is running and striking on a wire gong. There is a dark label with significant losses, but the maker is clear. Ripple-front
steeples are selling between $500 and $800.
