58.             $1000

Birge & Fuller double-steeple fusee, 1844-1848. A 26.5-inch case veneered in figured mahogany with a beautiful finish, no chips or evident repairs, and four good cone finials. The three glasses are period, the tablets frosted and cut glass.  The dial holds old paint with some chipping, the hands are period/original.  The 8-day double-fusee, time-and-strike movement is running but the strike cord is broken, and so untested. A good label on the back board.  AAC sold a similar example in 2021 for $1401.  $1000–$1400.
