Birge & Fuller 30-hour double-steeple with
wagon-spring movement, 1844-1848. A 24-inch steeple-on-steeple with four cone finials and good mahogany veneer all around;
there are some scratches on the front of the base. The three glasses are period with period Fenn tablets; the middle tablet
has an 1864 penciled signature on the back. The contoured dial holds the original paint with some chipping and wear, the hands
are period. The small 30-hour time-and-strike movement is unsigned and found in other examples. It is running and striking. The label is an overpaste by Daniel Pratt, Jr, the Boston retailer. This is a nice example. AAC sold a similar example
a year ago for $1400. $1200–$1500.
